ok so I’m sitting here watching the Oscars, as I do every year, and I decided my opinions should matter as much as the Academy’s. So here you go, my picks in the categories I care about.

BEST ACTOR
Viggo Mortensen - Eastern Promises
Wow. The guy flew to Russia on his own and ran around with mobsters just to get the role down. Best performance of the year hands down.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Javier Bardem - No Country For Old Men
He made the movie for me. Perfect role for him. Glad to see him in such a prominent film, “Before Night Falls” was not one of my favorites…

BEST ACTRESS
Cate Blanchett - Elizabeth: The Golden Age
I loved Ellen Page, she was amazing, but I’ve gotta say Cate deserves it. Tough, tough role to play and she was amazing.

BEST SOUND EDITING/MIXING
Transformers
Yes, the storyline made no sense whatsoever and they magically transported to a different city half way through a fight scene. It’s Michael Bay what do you expect? But do you remember what it sounded like when that first transformation happened? Amazing.

This was just one amazing film. I was floored by the cinematography and the incredible way Joel and Ethan directed. Amazing character development and incredible storytelling. This will be one of my favorites for years to come.

First off, Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. I’ll be spending the day with my fiancee, no doubt spending thousands of dollars getting our house together… Anyway, I thought I would post up a short little video I made with the boys from love is an action. This happened forever ago, but the footage got held up in a little bit of a “bureaucratic log-jam” to quote a friend…

I think it’s only appropriate on Valentine’s Day to post something like this and remember that love isn’t about cards and candy, but action. Check out their site and send them some support.

Today was a big day. After much thought and deliberation, I decided to begin my own delicious library. If you know what I’m talking about you understand the enormous undertaking I have just ventured into. If you’re not familiar, here’s the idea.The program uses your built in isight or USB camera as a scanner and allows you to scan the barcodes on all your books, CDs, videogames, and movies. (if you don’t have a camera you can just type it in… but I mean come on… so not as fun…) The end result of all this scanning is a nice, well organized program that is easily searchable and very convenient. One problem… you have to input EVERYTHING.

I figured I would just try a few and see how it worked. An hour later I was in the freezing cold attic pulling out every box of books I owned to get them scanned in. I didn’t know if all this work would be worth it… but I can tell you now, with a nice cup of coffee in hand and a beautiful collection to browse through…. it was definitely the right move to make. The only thing that could make me happier right now is a replay of the 18-1 Patriots getting their hearts broken on national TV.
