ok I promised about 3 months ago to give all the details on the engagement, but I didn’t have adequate pictures to tell the story… and let’s be honest, blogging is all about visuals. If it’s just one long paragraph… I don’t care to read it.

Anyway, Rachel and I took about 600 pictures this weekend hoping to find a couple that might be deemed worthy of a save the date card. My favorites from the collection can be found here, but I want to put a few up on this site for all the slackers out there that feel that clicking on links is entirely too much work.

ok so you’re asking… wait I thought you proposed in Romania?? You are correct, and I reward you 500 Real Nick Jones Bucks for a correct answer, but you see, when I proposed in Romania I was wearing three day old clothes (the airline lost my bags…) and it was pouring down rain…. not exactly perfect conditions for engagement shots. But because southern Louisiana looks SOOO much like Romania here are the standard engagement poses.

The AIGA has thrown in to support cause/affect., a graphic design competition for non-profit “do-gooders”. The call for entries is open until Nov. 9th and includes all kinds of print design and several forms of interactive design. Basically this is the design community finally realizing that there are talented designers out there that do more than advertising… thank you.

So our trip home came to a screaching halt tonight. No flights into OKC this evening so we were given the choice of staying in Albany and leaving at 6 am tomorrow morning, or staying in Cleveland and leaving at 10 am. No brainer. We’re in Cleveland. We did have to kill a few hours in the Albany airport though.

Things started out smooth looking something like this.

But then quickly went downhill ending up looking like this.

so we pretty much looked like idiots in the middle of the crowded Albany airport, but it’s not like it’s any better now that we’re in the middle of a retired women meeting here in Cleveland… (we’re the only men on our floor.)

Now ordinarily I would have no problem with this… BUT IT’S 9:30 IN NEW YORK. So now I am forced to be slient and take in the baseball game on TV because Grant also decided to fall asleep on the TV remote.

Luckily I have some sweet new music to sort through. Just picked up Crowder’s new album, Remedy.

Quality stuff. However, you may be looking at the above picture thinking, “I wonder what the real nick jones is listening to at such an early hour in the night…” Well my friend that would be Ga Ga Ga Ga by Spoon.

Excellent album. I highly recomend the download from itunes, or some creepy Russian site if your name is Terry Storch.

Just a couple random thoughts really quick.

Porn Sunday was awesome this weekend. So great to hang with the Difted crew and catch back up with Craig and Donny. These guys are the real deal and the ministry they are doing is truly next level.

Good to hang out with the Texas friends this week. Kelli, Kari, you guys are awesome. Keegan, you’re still the best web designer I know, and the alligator tail really made the Cowboys game for me.

Aaron Ryburn and John Otjen, don’t take my Gaffer’s tape ever again.

So I’m on the road for the third time in as many weeks. This time I headed south to Dallas before taking a long flight up to New York. Good experiences, good times, good people everywhere. Grant and I have been shooting some interesting segments for an upcoming Wonder Bros. video. If you are unfamilar with the glamarous life of the WBs check this out and get yourself educated.

Anyway, this three week long project gets old fast so you gotta find creative inspiration from your surroundings. Here’s a shot I took in the airport the other day. Nice repetition, nice composition, nice color, I don’t know what I’m saying I’m just repeating all the stuff my art prof told me in college.

So we have one more day here in New York before starting the long trip home. As much as I love the adventure of the open road… I’m kind of looking forward to a few nights with my XBOX 360, a few good friends, and a few quality rounds of Halo 3.
