the beard.
November 9, 2007Alright so I haven’t talked about it here yet because I wanted the picture to back up what’s going on. I have joined with all the guys in the office for a month of quality beard growing. We have set up a site here, and it’s really going off.
Now, we are not the first to start community beard growing. Taking it to the web has been done for awhile, most notably over at whiskerino. But as I have talked about in a couple facebook updates, and on the site, this is not a competition. We are one beard, multiple faces. Mornings in the office begin with reflection on our beards over a nice cup of coffee. Lunches often turn into full length conversations on beard theory, and famous beards of the past.
This is the real deal ladies and gentlemen. Buckle in, this face is about to get pretty wildery.

Derrick HensleeFor some reason or another, I feel that it is solely my fault as to this new phenomenon at Lifechurch.tv. You see, during the last all staff shindig, I donned a sporty beard. At first it had only one reason. I went to the White River for a mancation with a friend of mine. Why shave there? Since then, I’ve noticed I’ve gotten admiring bearded onlookers from the crowd in Tulsa. If you guys would like, I can hook you up with Mitch. Mitch is the only white guy with a supreme beard, bald head, fat earring holes, full sleeves, and a plaque that acknowledges his beautician abilities at a local salon here in Tulsa. He will even shape your beard and cut your hair with a straight razor.
Mitch (two weeks ago) pulled me aside and told me that we should get all the beard growing guys together and see if we can get Craig to grow one. I doubt he knows the full scale of the “Amy” factor.
My brothers do this every year. They call it "No

If there is one flaw to our beard growing movement,
kevIf there is one flaw to our beard growing movement, it is that we did not spread the word early enough for others to join in. Everyone I have talked to (that’s lifechurchspeak for 3) has said they wanted to grow a beard as well, but felt like they were too far behind to catch up. For this reason, I propose we establish the concept of Network Beards, where people can grow their own beards along with us, without the constraints of our deadline and penalties. Then if they feel they have made adequate progress on their facial growth, they can step up their commitment and join Beardity.
@ Derrick. This is truly just one of many many
Nick@ Derrick. This is truly just one of many many trends you have started. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I think… Would Derrick wear this? If this answer is no, I put it away
@ Rachel. We are proud to team up with the whole No Shave November movement for such a great occasion.
@ kev. You’ve got a good idea working here. The only part I do not agree with is the word “flaw” That assumes there is something wrong with our movement, when in fact the movement is perfect.
ONE BEARD! ONE LOVE!
