the stephen cole experiment.
June 28, 2007Every true creative knows that you don’t develop during the 9-5 routine, it’s what you learn outside of work that counts. With that said, I’m commited to showing you guys some of the stuff I’m playing with in my free time, even if it’s not all that great… Here’s today’s experiment.
I have these images in my head recently of shots taken from my Bible, laid over scenes that reflect those particular verses. A few months back I was assigned to shoot a Lifechurch.tv experience in Oklahoma City. I got some pretty cool shots of Stephen that I’ve hung on to (Stephen is one of my best friends… I’m a groomsman in his wedding next week… but that’s another post…) So I took some shots of my actual Bible and laid them over some of those shots I grabbed of Stephen.
What I really like is the natural blur you get from taking a true photo. It’s a blur you just can’t fake in post production.
If you like that shot, here’s another I did a few months ago….

That's sweet, I was wondering if that was photo work
Ryan BrinkleyThat’s sweet, I was wondering if that was photo work or typography. I saw the Katrina one back when you did it. We passed it around work here in San Diego. Keep posting the experiments and remember you still have a job out here if you want it
@ Ryan. Thanks Brinx. By the way your new ad
Nick@ Ryan. Thanks Brinx. By the way your new ad campaign is sick. I saw it during the NBA Finals and I was blown away.
Dude, you have such a knack for creating killer imagery.
Jeff ClickDude, you have such a knack for creating killer imagery. That could make some awesome wall-art with symbolic backdrops and well-chosen scripture. Let me know when you open an exhibit with these. I’ll buy!
@ Jeff. Thanks Jeff! I appreciate that man. Maybe we
